On April 29th, I with be speaking at the Columbia University Film Festival (CUFF). As a speaker on the roundtable, students will be able to ask me questions about my work as a producer as well as my experiences as a black man in the industry. I am stocked to be continuing my talks at yet another university and continuing to meet engaged, eager students who want to break into film and television.

Catalyst Story Institute is an arts organization and an annual festival gathering of fans, artists and executives from around the world to celebrate outstanding independent narrative production. Recently, I was invited ot be a guest speaker for one of Catalyst’s talks alongside Michael Dutcher hosted by my good friend Jordan Elizabeth Gelber and Phillip Gilpin Jr. It was an awesome conversation, which has lead to a partnership with Catalyst to plan a special event.

This month I am taking my next speaking event to Five Towns College. I will be speaking with two classes, mostly consisting of upperclassmen. Centered around diversity on and off-screen, this private event for the students should generate some interesting and eye-opening conversations about change in the entertainment industry. Representation in the film’s production crew is vital, as it gives talented women and BIPOC the positions that they deserve. Developing diverse and forward thinking films is something I strive to do as a filmmaker and I am glad to be able to invite students into this conversation.

We’ve been having these discussions for years now about how to diversify our industry. How do we get from talking about inclusion to enacting it? During this talk led by the Chicago Screenwriters Network, Ramfis will discuss immediate actions you can take to enable inclusivity, and the industry-wide value of embracing equity.

Ramfis is honored to speak at Tuskegee University, an HBCU school based in Tuskegee, Alabama. There, Ramfis will discuss his career and his mission, and will inspire students to make their own way in the entertainment industry.

An industry discussion with Producers, Talent Managers, Executives and Industry Commentators in regards to diversity in film, what does the industry look like moving forward. Discussion will be around the recent events regarding race, police brutality, worldwide protests, the COVID pandemic and much more. The conversation will also cover how the film industry has been affected by these events, and how it plans to further the inclusion of people of color in upcoming productions.

Participants will have the opportunity to pitch their feature films to four successful film producers: Ramfis Myrthil, Bill Straus, Atit Shah and SJ Murray. With the help of the moderator, Dave DeBorde, they will come up with useful questions about how to finance their projects and move forward with them. The four speakers will then be asked to give their advice and explain how they would approach the process if they had to jump on board of each of the pitched films.
